I had the theory, that the Windows clipboard stores more than the simple file paths, supported by the fact that after copying a file with "Ctr+"C" and then pressing "Ctr+V" some text editors display nothing, some display "C:/A.txt" and some display "file:///C:/A.txt". With this start I was able to extract the paths of each of the files and store it in different variables, but when sending the paths via the commands "Send"/"SendInput" back to the explorer, I got no reaction. Since I am quite new to AutoHotkey I first tried the same exercise with simple text in Notepad, which soon worked smoothly. clipboard slot and even when instead of "A.txt" I want to store multiple files in one clipboard slot later I also want to implement "Ctr+X+" to cut files. Ideally, it should also work when I add "C.txt", "D.txt". The goal of my AutoHotkey script is to allow the following alternative:ġ) Copy "A.txt" with "Ctr+C+1" in path 1.Ģ) Copy "B.txt" with "Ctr+C+2" in path 2.ģ) Paste "A.txt" with "Ctr+V+1" in path 1.Ĥ) Paste "B.txt" wiht "Ctr+V+2" in path 2.Īt first glance it might seem unnecessary, but when organising a lot of files in more complex system, it would be really convenient for me. I'm trying to expand the clipboard possibilities of Windows with an AutoHotkey script.įollowing expamle to explain exactly what my goal is: Suppose I have a file "A.txt" in path 1, which I want to move to path 2 and another file "B.txt" in path 3, which I want to move to path 4.
